Hyundai celebrated the start of Fourth of July weekend, one of the busiest travel weeks of the summer, by giving customers a welcome break from heavy gas prices.
The company teamed with Atlas Oil Company, which hosted the $1.49 Hyundai Fuel Fill Up event, a one-day promotion that was offered in the three largest U.S. cities, Los Angeles, Chicago and New York. Customers in the three cities had the opportunity to purchase gas at $1.49 per gallon between Noon – 2 p.m. local time.
In Chicago, the event took place on July 1, at the Atlas-owned BP gas station in Hickory Hills, Ill., where 474 consumers took advantage of the special fuel pricing promotion during which more than 6,500 gallons of fuel were discounted. The event was supported with a major radio advertising campaign and covered by numerous broadcast outlets.
“We’re very glad to have partnered with Atlas on this promotion,” said Jim Trainor, national manager of product public relations for Hyundai Motor America. “We were looking for a partner with state-of-the-art facilities, impeccably trained team members, and the experience to support such an important event, and Atlas Oil Company provided us with all three.”
With gas prices pushing $3 per gallon during peak summer travel months, Hyundai introduced its Hyundai Assurance Gas Lock, a program that guarantees consumers a year’s worth of gas at $1.49 per gallon on most Hyundai models leased or purchased between July 1 and Aug. 31, 2009.
