The annual tournament is a major fundraising effort for the company’s Sheetz for the Kidz charity arm.
Sheetz is once again giving back to the communities it serves.
Sheetz for the Kidz is set to hold its 19th annual For the Kidz Golf Classic on May 21-22 at the Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina.
Festivities kick off on Sunday, May 21, with a silent auction, welcome reception, dinner and a celebrity autograph session. This year’s celebrity guests are Joe Namath, Dan Marino, Lance Armstrong, Thurman Thomas, Clinton Portis, Muggsy Bogues, Jack Ham, Mike Wagner, Mel Blount, John Banaszak and Mark Schlereth.
The annual tournament is a major fundraising effort for Sheetz for the Kidz, which is a charitable organization operated by employees of Sheetz. Last year’s tournament raised approximately $760,000 – helping Sheetz employees to purchase and wrap holiday gifts so that local children can celebrate with new clothes, toys and other basic needs. Last year, the charity made the holiday season brighter for approximately 8,800 children.
Since its creation in 1992, Sheetz for the Kidz has raised more than $22.9 million and brought smiles to the faces of more than 100,000 children in the communities surrounding Sheetz stores in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland and Ohio. Since 2005, Sheetz for the Kidz has also partnered with Make-A-Wish to sponsor more than 450 families (52 in 2016) of seriously-ill children so they can experience a weeklong dream vacation in Orlando, Florida.
