MFA Oil Co. raised $165,000 for Operation Homefront through the company’s second annual charity golf outing.
On June 6, farmer-owned cooperative, MFA Oil Co., hosted its second Annual Charity Golf Scramble & Concert at The Club at Old Hawthorne in Columbia, Mo., where the company is based. Through the recent charity outing, the company raised $165,000 to support Operation Homefront, a national nonprofit organization that provides emergency and other financial assistance to thousands of military troops and their families.
The tournament attracted 200 golfers and included prize money and awards for tournament winners. In addition to golf, participants and guests were treated to dinner and a private concert featuring country music singer-songwriter Sara Evans.
MFA Oil thanks the tournament participants, its sponsors, employees and customers for helping to make the event a success.
“We’re proud to support Operation Homefront in their efforts to assist the military families and wounded warriors who protect our freedom,” says Mark Fenner, MFA Oil president and CEO. “Thanks to the generosity of everyone who played a role in our charity golf tournament and concert, we were able to more than double our donation from last year.”
“Thanks to our terrific partnership with MFA Oil Co., and to the generosity of numerous sponsors, $165,000 has been raised to help Operation Homefront to build strong, stable and secure military families so that they thrive — not barely get by — in the communities they’ve worked so hard to protect,” saod Operation Homefront chief operating officer, Retired Air Force Brigadier Gen. Robert Thomas. “Operation Homefront couldn’t ask for a more caring and more generous partner than MFA Oil Co. We are thankful for MFA Oil’s thoughtful outreach to military families who tirelessly serve our nation.”
Sponsors for the 2016 MFA Oil Charity Golf Scramble and Concert included: concert sponsor, Warren Distribution; platinum sponsor CHS; silver sponsors DSI, Innospec, Lockton Cos., Word Marketing and Clear Vision Development Group; bronze sponsors Commerce Bank, Crockett Engineering, Double Check Co., Enloe Aluminum, Growmark, Little Dixie Construction, McLane Co., Pepsi and Smith Lewis LLP; dinner sponsor CoBank; and tee gift sponsor Williams Keepers LLC. In addition to donations from golfers and sponsors, MFA Oil raised more than $100,000 from customers who purchased paper pin-ups from Break Time convenience stores and Operation Homefront bracelets at its mid-Missouri Jiffy Lube and Big O Tires locations.
