An estimated 2,500 total layoffs to follow initial 165.
The Kraft Heinz Co. has recently announced several layoffs at the Oscar Mayer plant in Madison, Wis. It has been rumored that these recent layoffs will not be the last as Kraft Heinz seeks to eliminate a number of positions as the company moves forward.
According to a report by 27 News, the recent layoffs included a total of 165 workers. Included in the 165 were 18 supervisors at Oscar Mayer, including the plant manager who has dedicated more than 30 years of his life to the company. The remaining 147 layoffs were corporate employees.
The company has plans to eliminate 2,500 positions across the U.S. and Canada, with approximately 700 of the affected employees being from the Kraft Heinz Co. Northfield, Wis. headquarters. These layoffs will not only affect corporate employees, but UFCW Local 538 Union reps told 27News that their employees will also be affected.
