For the sixth year, c-store chain Wawa sponsors Welcome America treating customers to free beverages and fun activities.
Wawa Inc. is embarking on its sixth year as the title sponsor of the Philadelphia region’s biggest Independence Day celebration: Wawa Welcome America. The festival includes eight days of activities, and this year Wawa plans to introduce new elements of fun and value.
The event kicks off on Saturday, June 27 and runs through Saturday, July 4. Philadelphians will be treated to Wawa Welcome America! free family fun, including concerts, fireworks shows, Wawa Hoagie Day, the Liberty Block Party, Party on the Parkway, a Massive Beverage & Flag Give-Away and free admission to two of Philadelphia’s Historic Museums.
New for 2015, Wawa is providing free admission to two museums during the Festival including the Franklin Institute and the National Constitution Center at select times.
As part of Wawa Hoagie Day, visitors have free admission to the National Constitution Center’s exhibits, which include Freedom Rising, The Story of We the People and Signers’ Hall, and the Center’s newest feature exhibit opening this summer. Constituting Liberty: From the Declaration to the Bill of Rights. A display will feature Wawa’s commitment to military, fire and police through photos of past Hoagies for Heroes contests, Care Package assembly days and annual Hoagie Day events celebrating our heroes.
Other Wawa Welcome America! events include Wawa Hoagie Day, which will will include a salute to local and national—military, firemen and police officers.
Wawa President and CEO, Chris Gheysens, will announce the launch of the Wawa Foundation’s annual USO campaign, kicking off in ALL Wawa stores chain wide.
Mayor Nutter will proclaim it Hoagie Day. People will have the chance to visit the Letters from Home station and write their thoughts and thanks to share with our troops. At the conclusion of the event, guests will be treated to a free performance by hometown heroes from NBC’s The Voice: Matthew Schuler and Audra McLaughlin.
At the Liberty Block Party on Friday, July 3, The Wawa Smoothie Shack will be present at the largest block party of the summer, providing FREE samples of Wawa’s most refreshing summer smoothies.
The Independence Day Parade & Party on the Parkway and the largest free concert in America will take place on July 4. Wawa Associates will march in the July 4 parade and distribute FREE Wawa tea, juice, lemonade and water event hats and flags to wave in patriotism during the parade and later, on the Parkway.
Between now and June 7, individuals are invited to enter to win a trip to The Wawa Welcome America festivities on July 4 in Philadelphia. Prize includes travel allowance and two-night hotel stay, Wawa gift card, plus reserved seating for the concert and fireworks.
