Pilot Travel Centers wants to remodel 75% of its shower facilities over the next 18 months to give professional drivers a better store experience.
Pilot Travel Centers LLC announced the company plans to invest $49 million to remodel and upgrade its network of showers for professional drivers.
Pilot made plans to upgrade all of the more than 4,400 showers in its network by December 2013 with the majority being built during the next year. The company wants to do whatever it can to make drivers’ lives more comfortable and relaxing.
Showers will remain open at each location during remodeling so customers can continue to use the facilities without interruption. The following upgrades are expected to be made to Pilot shower facilities:
- New shower gel
- Hooks to hang and store personal items
- iPod listening stations
- Larger towels
- Custom-designed benches
- Cloth bathmats
- Spa-style shower heads
“We know drivers just want a clean place to rest, relax and refresh before they have to get back out on the road,” said Jimmy Haslam, CEO of Pilot Flying J. “We listened to what features they wanted to see in our showers and are making these changes in order to provide the best shower facilities available to them while on the road.”
Pilot Flying J, based in Knoxville, Tenn., operates 600 retail locations across North America.
