The Pennsylvania convenience retailer is also expanding its push to have more wine sales at some locations.
A month after opening its 67th store location , Rutter’s Farm Stores has another project going—this time in Pennsylvania’s Allegheny. Work is under way on a new Rutter’s convenience store, according to the Altoona Mirror.
York-based Rutter’s plans to open a 7,843-square-foot store on a 5.9-acre parcel across Plank Road from the area housing Hoss’s Steak and Sea House in mid-summer, said Derek Gaskins, chief customer officer.
The Rutter’s store will sell gasoline, and the site will have two, bidirectional access points — one along Plank Road and one along Jennifer Lane.
Rutter’s also hopes to sell beer at its Blair County location, the newspaper reported.
The Blair Township Board of Supervisor this past April Rutter’s application for approval of a proposed intermunicipal transfer of a restaurant liquor license.
WINE TO GO
Once a restaurant liquor license is obtained, store owners can apply for a wine expanded permit, which allows wine-to-go sales.
Rutter’s presently sells beer at eight of its 67 locations throughout central Pennsylvania, Gaskins said. The Allegheny Township site will be its westernmost store, according to the Altoona Mirror.
The 67th Rutter’s location opened May 5 and is located at 798 West Main Street in South Annville Township. It will operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
