Candy terms searched for show that chocolate rules but fruity/sour flavors still rank high.
M&M’s were the most sought after candy product during the research period, with three times the search volume of the next ranked, Hershey. In terms of revenue, M&M’s, Reeses, Dove and Twizzlers are the terms that generate the largest volume of sales. Top chocolate brands include Ghirardelli, Lindt, Cadbury, Haribo, Toblerone, Trolli, Lindor, Ferraro and Milka, in rank order. Fruity, tart flavors are the next most popular flavor after chocolate including Nerds, Airheads and Warheads.
When it comes to costumes, superheros and princess costumes were in high demand.
Data is compiled in aggregate from U.S. retailers like Walmart, Target, Peapod, FreshDirect, Instacart, Boxed, Costco, Toys ‘R’ Us and others selling candy and/or costumes. The data represents searches for Halloween, Candy and Costume related products from Sept. 1 – Oct. 16, 2016.
