Restaurant food is set to be available through Amazon in select markets.
Amazon is rolling out a food takeout service, a direct competitor to GrubHub, Seamless and DeliveryHero, Tech Crunch reported.
The service initially will be part of Amazon Local, the company’s Groupon-style service and app that offers people daily deals, coupons and discounts from merchants in their neighborhood. The service, is set to launch in Seattle and on iOS soon.
Tech Crunch reported that the food takeout service is expected to eventually go global, but much like Amazon’s Fresh delivery service for groceries, it is predicted to be a very gradual expansion.
