Shamrocks program helps fund MSA research.
CST Brands Inc.’s U.S. Corner Store Team Members and customers came through in a big way for an important cause, raising more than $2.3 million for the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s Shamrocks program.
The popular fundraiser helps support MDA’s worldwide research programs, MDA clinics and MDA families with muscle diseases. Additionally, Shamrock sales at Corner Stores help send thousands of children with neuromuscular diseases to nearly 80 MDA summer camps throughout the U.S.
Corner Store customers purchased $1 and $5 Shamrocks, which were prominently displayed on walls and ceilings in each store.
“With more than 1,000 stores across the country selling Shamrocks, we know we have a tremendous opportunity to help MDA families in their fight against muscle diseases,” said Kim Bowers, president and CEO of CST Brands Inc. “Dedicated employees and our generous customers have made this program a success for more than two decades.”
In 2012, Corner Store raised $2.1 million through the Shamrocks campaign. The company has been associated with the Association for more than 25 years and has raised more than $22 million for MDA.
“Once again, Corner Store has come through for MDA in a very big way by going above and beyond in selling MDA Shamrocks through the month of March,” said Executive Vice President and Chief Business Development Officer Kevin Moran. “Thanks to their enthusiasm and commitment, Corner Store associates were able to rally support from their customers to help break last year’s record. This tremendous effort will help MDA continue to provide help and hope for families who are fighting muscle disease.”
The program started in March and continued through the end of the month.
