Pilot Flying J Celebrates Driver Appreciation

Drivers to enjoy double rewards points for the entire month of September.

On Sept. 1, all 648 travel centers and travel plazas in the Pilot Flying J network will start the day with a renewed mission—to make life better for America’s drivers.

The Pilot Flying J team is recognizing the month of September as Driver Appreciation Month by offering double points on professional drivers’ MyRewards cards from Aug. 28-Oct. 2.

“For decades, professional drivers have stopped at Pilot Travel Centers and Flying J travel plazas to refuel, eat, shower and rest while they’re on the road,” said Jimmy Haslam, CEO of Pilot Flying J. “America relies on professional drivers; they are what keeps this country moving. Professional drivers are hardworking, talented and inspiring individuals.

“That’s our renewed focus at Pilot Flying J—that the driver comes first, and it’s our job to appreciate, respect and thank them for what they do. That’s why we’re treating September as an opportunity to recognize our valued customers. All 21,000 employees in the Pilot Flying J family are looking forward to celebrating America’s drivers,” he added.

In addition to double rewards points for the entire month, Pilot Flying J plans to celebrate National Driver Appreciation Week, Sept. 17-22, by offering additional staff to meet drivers when they visit stores and gather feedback for the company.

“We want to hear from drivers—what we are doing well, what we could improve, what needs aren’t being met,” Haslam said. “We’re striving to make each driver’s day the best it can be, and we rely on driver feedback to provide the exceptional service our customers deserve.”

Based on earlier customer feedback, Pilot Flying J is rolling out several notable initiatives to improve services and facilities for drivers. In July, Pilot Flying J launched a $49 million project to remodel and upgrade its network of showers to make them cleaner, more modern, more relaxing and comfortable for drivers.

The company listened to driver feedback to help plan the shower renovations, which include porcelain tile; more hooks to hang personal items; iPod listening stations; softer, thicker, larger towels; better ventilation; and high-end, “spa-style” shower heads that provide ideal water pressure for a great shower experience. Pilot Flying J plans to upgrade all of its 4,400-plus showers, completely rebuilding them over the next 18 months.

Pilot Flying J invites drivers and the media that reaches drivers to stay tuned for other exciting changes in the days ahead.
