Kroger contributes more than $30 million in food and funds to local food banks through charity since 2006.
The Kroger Co. commits to bringing hope and help to hungry families throughout the year, but from May 27 through June 9, the company plans to participate in the annual “Bringing Hope To The Table” campaign.
“Bringing Hope To The Table is a unique opportunity for our customers and Kroger to join together to feed our hungry neighbors,” said Lynn Marmer, Kroger’s group vice president of corporate affairs and a member of the board of Feeding America.
Every time a customer purchases a participating item in any of the Kroger’s Family of Stores through mid-June, he will be showing support to the food banks. Kroger brand products and vendor partners such as Kellogg’s, Dannon, Nabisco, Kashi, General Mills, PepsiCo and Kraft foods will be specially marked for this event.
The effort is expected to raise $4 million in cash and food donations to assist local food banks in communities where Kroger’s customers and associates live and work. This should create more than 25 million meals. These participating food banks are members of Feeding America, the nation’s largest hunger-relief organization.
“We’re proud that through this campaign, our customers, associates and vendors unite to provide resources to local food banks that support our communities,” Marmer said. “The success of this campaign illustrates our customers’ commitment to fighting hunger in their communities.”
