Hershey’s Milk & Milkshakes, the “Official Flavored Milk and Milkshakes of Dover International Speedway,” has donated $19,800 to Autism Speaks, an autism science and advocacy organization.
The donation was presented during a press event held Sunday, May 16, before the start of the Autism Speaks 400.
The $19,800 donation to Autism Speaks is the result of a challenge that Hershey’s Milk & Milkshakes delivered to Trevor Bayne, No. 99 NASCAR Nationwide Series driver for Michael Waltrip Racing. The company offered to donate $99 to Autism Speaks for every lap completed by the No. 99 car during the “Heluva Good! 200” on Saturday, May 15, at Dover International Speedway.
Hershey’s Milk & Milkshakes are a new line of single-serve milk and milkshakes that are produced by HP Hood LLC under license from The Hershey Company. “Hershey’s Milk & Milkshakes is proud to partner with Autism Speaks and Dover International Speedway, and to have the opportunity to help generate awareness for this important cause,” said Chris Ross, spokesperson for HP Hood LLC, a license partner to The Hershey Company. “Our licensing partner, The Hershey Company, has been committed to helping children and children in need for over 100 years.”
“We are extremely grateful to Hershey’s Milk and Milkshakes for their support of our cause and our community,” said Mark Roithmayr, president of Autism Speaks. “The money raised on behalf of Autism Speaks will help fund important research and also advance our advocacy and awareness efforts.”
Hershey’s Milk & Milkshakes appeared nationally at retailers in January 2010 and are available in 12-ounce plastic, single-serve bottles in a variety of flavors.
