Sam’s Mart Corporation of Charlotte, N.C., is installing Gilbarco Veeder-Root’s Passport point of sale (POS) system at an additional 80 corporate and dealer locations in the Charlotte and Atlanta areas this year.
This program builds on the base of stores that already have Passport to make it the standard POS across the chain.
“We chose to standardize on Gilbarco Passport because it puts us in the best long-term position for PCI,” said Sam Nafisi, president of Sam’s Mart. “The architecture can easily accommodate future upgrades and new functionality without hardware changes. The strength of Gilbarco’s service and support convinced us that Passport is the best solution to meet our needs.”
Passport provides a touch screen interface that minimizes training time, errors and shrinkage. It provides connectivity and standardization, powerful business information and security features, sophisticated business growth tools and easy expandability. Remote diagnostics enable most troubleshooting, fixes and software upgrades to be completed without on-site service calls and site downtime. Passport is approved on all major networks to benefit multi-branded retailers like Sam’s Mart, which operates Shell, Sunoco, and Texaco branded sites.
Norfolk, Va.-based Jones & Frank Corp. supports Sam’s Mart Corporation with sales and service for Gilbarco Veeder-Root products through its nine locations in the southeast.
“Sam’s Mart is known for their outstanding customer service, brand, and the neighborhood atmosphere at their stores,” said Mikey Kindler, director of marketing for POS systems at Gilbarco Veeder-Root. “Their employees want to focus on providing excellent service. Passport provides an easy POS upgrade and the best long-term choice for PCI compliance.”
Gilbarco Veeder-Root will exhibit Passport at the NACS Show, Las Vegas Convention Center, Oct. 20-23, Booth 5572.
