New York c-store Wilson Farms and the Meals on Wheels Foundation of Western New York is asking customers to support the thousands of homebound elderly and disabled New York residents through the “Step Up to the Plate” program.
Now in its fifth consecutive year with Wilson Farms, the fundraising campaign will run from Oct. 31 through Saturday, Nov. 29 at all Wilson Farms, Sugarcreek and Wilson Farms Xpress in New York.
Customers can participate by purchasing a Meals on Wheels plate for a $1 donation. The purchased plate will include the name of each donor and will be displayed in the store where it’s purchased.
The program has collected more than $124,000 for countless meal recipients who have benefited from Meals on Wheels programs.
“We are looking forward to another successful fundraising campaign with the Meals on Wheels Foundation of WNY,” said Wilson Farms President and CEO Paul Nanula. “We know we can count on our customers to ‘Step Up to the Plate’ as they have shown their kindness and generosity time and time again in the past.”
Meals on Wheels for Western New York prepares and serves approximately 800,000 meals to 3,300 residents in its market area each year. The organization relies heavily on a volunteer force of about 2,000 individuals.
