The convenience retailer expands its international footprint with new Southeast Asian location.
Ho Chi Minh City residents soon will be able to enjoy convenience, 7-Eleven style, while many visitors to the country will recognize some of their favorites from home.
Seven System Viet Nam JSC (SSV), a master franchisee of 7-Eleven Inc., will now have the first 7-Eleven store location in Vietnam. The Ho Chi Minh City store opens will open June 15. A grand opening celebration will start at 8 a.m. at the Saigon Trade Center store, located at 37 Ton Duc Thang, Ben Nghe Ward, District 1.
Open 24 hours per day, seven days a week, the new 1,800-square-foot store carries some 2,000 products that are both typical of 7-Eleven stores and special to the Vietnam market. Customers will find 7-Eleven favorites like Slurpee drinks, award-winning, value-priced 7 Select private brand snacks and more than 100 local fresh food items.

The prepared-fresh-daily foods will include Vietnamese, Western and other Asian lunch-box meals such as a tomato-based meatball stew, popular in the country. For meal and snack times, the store also will carry Banh mi sandwiches popular around the globe, Xoi sticky rice, Che dessert puddings, Bo la lot leaf-wrapped beef, and Banh cuon, filled crepe-like rice cakes.
As an added convenience, the store will accept mobile payments and has a number of other special features and customer services such as dine-in seating, bill-pay, ATMs and free Wi-Fi.
“We worked closely with SSV and our parent company Seven-Eleven Japan to ensure we are providing the neighborhood with the products they expect from 7-Eleven across the globe as well as local favorites,” said Ena Williams, 7-Eleven senior vice president and head of International.
Initially, the store will be operated by SSV, but it is expected to be franchised in the future. The Saigon Trade Center store is the first of many 7-Eleven stores planned for Vietnam, the company said. With Vietnam, 7-Eleven now has stores in 19 countries.
7-Eleven is the premier name and largest chain in the convenience-retailing industry. Based in Irving, Texas, 7-Eleven operates, franchises or licenses more than 62,000 stores in 19 countries, including 10,900 in North America.
