Most everyone who wants to work is now working and recruiting is tough. Retailers are looking for new ways to attract potential employees to work for their business. But what are the best ways to attract new employees?
Lots of folks are talking about paying more and, yes, that is the easiest way to attract more applicants, but there’s a real downside to this strategy.
While paying more will get you more applicants, will it get you the people you really want to hire and will it get the people you hire to stay?
Yes, salary is the price of admission to play the game, but what employees really want are more intangibles like growth, opportunity, challenge, open communications as well as a great team and a great manager to work with.
So while you’re working on your recruitment strategy, ask yourself. What opportunities for growth and advancement am I offering? How can I work to improve open communication among my teams? How are managers responding to the employees they manage? Creating the right culture and new challenges and opportunities for employees helps to reduce turnover.
