Mihos ran for governor of Massachusetts in 2006 and 2010.
Christy Mihos, a convenience store magnate who ran for governor of Massachusetts twice has passed away after a battle with cancer. He was 67.
According to the StarTribune, Mihos was born in Brockton, Mass., and grew his father’s grocery store business into the 150-store chain, Christy’s Markets. He and his brother eventually sold the New England convenience store chain.
He was appointed to the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority board in 1999. He ran for governor as an independent in 2006 and as a Republican in 2010.
