After a social media contest, Swiss Farms has a name for its iconic Rooster.
Swiss Farms, the Delaware County, Pa.-based drive-through market, has introduced Cruiser who, after a lengthy name search and social call to action campaign, will have a number of responsibilities as company mascot for the organization.
Cruiser will serve as brand and community ambassador with tasks ranging from hand shaking and school visits, to assisting with Chef demos, media interviews and photo opportunities.
Maggie Simmonds, an avid Swiss Farms fan and contest winner, cleverly concocted his name as a way of paying homage to the uniqueness of the brand (as in one can obtain anything by just cruising on by in their car) and the fact that it’s a close sounding moniker to the word ‘rooster’. The name Cruiser beat out a number of potential candidates including Swisster, Mr. T Cooler, Rocky the Rooster and Delco to name a few.
“We are so excited to welcome Cruiser into our family,” explained Scott Simon, CEO of Swiss Farms. “The search was quite extensive, but we strongly feel his unbridled enthusiasm, experience and love for our brand all make him an ‘egg-cellent’ candidate for the position.”
Prior to his post, Cruiser was chief community officer of the Early Risers Association where he helped influence important policies to help groggy professionals start their day with a positive outlook. Swiss Farms was a natural transition and opportunity for Cruiser to leverage his leadership and engagement skills.
Cruiser began his career at Pierre’s Costumes in Old City, Philadelphia. Cruiser currently lives in Broomall, Pa. and when not welcoming Swiss Farms customers, he enjoys sitting atop a silo watching the sun rise.
