Buc-ee’s continues to pursue expansion outside of Texas.
Buc-ee’s has canceled plans to open its first store in Baton Rouge, La., eight months after it first announced its expansion outside of Texas, according to WBRZ2ABC News.
The store had been set for the Millerville exit on I-12, and would have marked the company’s first location outside of Texas. The decision reportedly was due to Buc-ee’s being unable to secure additional sites in Louisiana.
Jeff Nadalo, Buc-ee’s general counsel, told WBRZ2ABC News that Buc-ee’s business model is to operate numerous stores in close proximity to “overcome the regulatory costs, management costs, and out-of-state costs.”
Buc-ee’s is reportedly still pursuing a growth strategy that includes expansion in other states outside of Texas.
