Acosta has chosen a new company president and CEO who will strategically help to drive company growth.
Acosta has announced that it has chosen Steve Matthesen to serve as the company’s new president and CEO. Matthesen, formerly the president of global retail for The Neilsen Co., bring more than 20 years of experience in consumer data, analytics, business strategy and operations to the company.
In his most recent position at Nielsen, Matthesen was responsible for leading the company’s retailer relationships in more than 100 countries around the world.
“It’s a privilege to be selected to serve as Acosta’s next president and CEO,” said Matthesen. “With a rich history of almost 90 years of excellence — and the vast opportunities for continued growth and partnerships — I am excited to join this talented team, and I look forward to bringing my leadership in consumer behavior and trends to Acosta’s growing portfolio of clients and customers.”
Prior to joining Nielsen — a leading global information and measurement company — Matthesen was a partner at The Boston Consulting Group where he collaborated with leading CPG companies to develop and execute growth strategies. He also served in the U.S. Air Force at the Space and Missile Systems Center. Matthesen has an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, a master’s degree in computer engineering from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Science from Duke University.
Matthesen succeeds current president and CEO Robert Hill, who will become vice chair of the Board of Directors, effective Tuesday, Sept. 6, and will continue to work with Acosta’s clients and customers in this new role. Hill has been with the company and industry for more than 30 years, serving in a number of capacities at Acosta since 1994.
“In a world where data is directly impacting the purchasing decisions of retailers and shoppers more than ever before, Steve brings an analytical perspective that will accelerate Acosta’s strategies and enhance the value Acosta provides to our clients and customers,” said Hill. “I look forward to continuing my commitment to these relationships in a new capacity as vice chair of the Board, and I am pleased to welcome Steve to the Acosta team.”
Matthesen will immediately begin working alongside members of the Acosta executive team to continue the company’s strong and stable foundation behind most of the trusted brands seen in stores every day.
