The QuickChek veteran will lend his industry experience to shaping the direction of the National Advisory Group.
The National Advisory Group (NAG), retail trade association for convenience store and petroleum operators, is proud to announce that John Schaninger, Vice President of Sales & Marketing at QuickChek, has joined the Board of Directors.
As a member of the NAG board of directors, Schaninger will lend his extensive industry experience in helping the board to identify Burning Issues for upcoming NAG Conferences, selecting speakers and serving as a NAG ambassador for new and existing NAG members.
“I am very honored and excited to be asked to join the NAG board. I hope to be able to bring my long operations and marketing background to assist our NAG member companies,” Schaninger said. “I am looking forward to meeting our members at the NAG conference in September”
Schaninger joined QuickChek in 1978 as an assistant manager, growing through the operation’s ranks from assistant manager to district leader, and eventually to region 1 vice president of operations. He was named to his current position as vice president of sales and marketing in 2004.
From 1993 to 1997 he developed and chaired QuickChek’s relationship with Children’s Miracle Network.
“Our NAG board represents a wonderful mix of the very best retailers in the convenience store industry,” said John Lofstock, Executive Director of NAG. “We are honored to welcome John to the Board and look forward to working with him to continue our mission of serving small and mid-sized chains in the competitive convenience store industry.”
Prior to joining Quick Chek, Schaninger worked in his family’s grocery business, and it was there that he developed his love for people and products. He has one son, Michael, now a member of the Pepsico team. Schaninger attended Albright College. His No. 1 passion outside of retailing is music: listening, writing, playing guitar and singing. He is also an avid reader.
The QuickChek story began in 1888 when Durling Farms was founded to serve the central New Jersey region. Over the following 75 years, the Durling Farms brand grew to become synonymous with quality milk and dairy products delivered fresh to the customer’s door.
Guided by the principles of Total Customer Dedication, QuickChek continues to define the term “fresh convenience.” The chain remains the market leader by providing one-stop shopping, offering value and a wide variety of grocery and market items to meet your needs.
Privately-held, QuickChek operates 143 stores with more than 3,500 team members throughout New Jersey and New York. The retailer was named Convenience Store Decisions’ 2016 Convenience Store Chain of the Year.
