District with the most donations will see a Habitat house built in their community.
Kum & Go convenience stores has once again joined forces with Habitat for Humanity, marking the third straight year that the two are partnering on a national campaign.
Through the partnership, Kum & Go stores will fundraise for Habitat for Humanity during the month of March. Kum & Go is also committing a $210,000 corporate gift to support Habitat’s work to help families build strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter.
The Kum & Go district that raises the most donations will be selected to have a home built in their community and Kum & Go will sponsor the construction of the new Habitat home.
In addition to funding a new Habitat home, Kum & Go will distribute several grants to Habitat for Humanity offices. Grants will be based on which Kum & Go service areas raise the most money through customer traffic.
Between March 1 and 31, customers can join the effort in a few ways:
Adding a $1 Habitat donation to in-store purchases. New this year, customers who donate $1 or more will receive a coupon for $1 off any whole pizza.
Purchasing Kum & Go water, where 10 cents per bottle will be donated to Habitat for Humanity.
“Kum & Go and Habitat for Humanity both share a commitment to building great communities,” said Kyle Krause, president & CEO of Kum & Go. “Along with the generous contributions of our loyal customers and through the support of our store associates, Kum & Go is proud to once again support Habitat for Humanity this year.”
In the last two years, Kum & Go and their customers have contributed nearly $1 million to Habitat for Humanity. Two Kum & Go sponsored homes have been built in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Minot, North Dakota, as a result of the donations.
“We are so pleased to partner with Kum & Go and their customers again in 2016,” said Colleen Finn Ridenhour, deputy director of Corporate, Foundation & Institutional Relations at Habitat for Humanity International. “This partnership has grown and expanded every year, reaching more families who are working to build a better life for themselves and their families. We are very grateful for Kum & Go’s support.”
Kum & Go, Habitat’s only national convenience retail partner, is the nation’s fifth largest privately held, company-operated convenience store chain. The convenience retailer donates 10% of profits to charitable causes in its community. Habitat for Humanity works in 1,400 communities in the U.S., where future homeowners help build their homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage.
Customers can donate in-stores throughout the month of March.
