CST Brands will once again help improve the lives of children by donating the proceeds of the third annual Country Run to Big Brothers Big Sisters.
The dates for the third annual Corner Store Country Run, presented by San Antonio, Texas-based CST Brands, have been announced.
The 2016 run is sponsored by Aquafina and net proceeds will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters, the world’s largest donor and volunteer-supported mentoring network, as well as local children’s charities in each market.
In two years, Corner Store Country Run raised a net total of $2.6 million for Big Brothers Big Sisters in the U.S. and Canada, as well as local children’s charities in each of the 10 race markets.
“Our partnership with CST Brands over the last two years has helped sustain and generate matches that make a positive difference in the lives of thousands of children across the country,” said Pam Iorio, president and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. “We are extremely proud to have been chosen once again as a charity partner for the Corner Store 5K Country Run.”
This year’s 5K will once again offer a fun, family-friendly atmosphere with optional chip timing for serious runners. Runners will have the option to help raise funds from friends and family for the race beneficiaries, and additional revenues will come from participant registrations, corporate sponsors and Corner Store customers who donate at the register in participating locations.
The Corner Store Country Run 5K features a farm-themed course with hay bales, giant inflatable cows, chickens and pigs. Participants dress the part in Western wear, overalls, cowboy hats and farm animal costumes. After the run, folks are invited to stick around for a country fair with food, live music, free sponsor swag and a beer garden.
In addition, all participants will receive a branded T-shirt, backpack and finisher ribbon. For timed runners, prizes will be awarded to the fastest finishers in several categories.
“I couldn’t be prouder of the Corner Store Country Run team and all those who helped make our second year a big success,” said Kim Lubel, CEO and chairman of CST Brands. “It will be year three for our race series – so be ready to get your country on and we’ll see you at the races!”
