The convenience store chain, once hailed for its growth, is exiting the Los Angeles market by the end of October.
FamilyMart, the Japanese convenience store giant that owns Famima!!, is pulling out of the U.S. According to Los Angeles Eater. U.S. convenience stores are expected to be closed by the end of this month.
About 40 years ago, Famima!! started in a small Japanese neighborhood as FamilyMart. In 2004, Famima Corp. USA was established with the idea of introducing the same FamilyMart concept to the U.S. The grand opening of the first Famimia!! convenience store in the U.S. took place in July 2005. From there the chain grew to more than 10 stores throughout greater Los Angeles.
