Champlain becomes first major retailer in Vermont to roll out gas pump media on its forecourt.
Champlain Oil is preparing for the shift to EMV both in-store and at the pump across its locations in the Northeast by partnering with Gilbarco Veeder-Root.
With more than 100 sites in Vermont, New Hampshire and New York, Champlain Oil is deploying Gilbarco’s Passport POS and Encore dispenser system across its network. It plans to use Gilbarco as its exclusive provider of EMV-ready dispensers, CRIND payment terminals, media applications and point of sale (POS) technology to help it get ahead of the 2015 and 2017 EMV liability shift deadlines.
In addition, Champlain Oil will roll out Applause TV, a gas pump media and consumer engagement platform that utilizes dynamic audio and video content from Verifone Media to enhance retailer promotions and drive repeat traffic through a heightened consumer experience. Champlain will be the first major retailer in Vermont to roll out media on its forecourt.
“We chose to partner with Gilbarco because of their unique ability to provide a comprehensive, one-stop solution for EMV,” said Bryan Cairns, vice president, Champlain Oil. “We will benefit from their platform bringing innovative retail capabilities to our sites with Applause TV, Encore fuel dispensers, and Passport Point of Sale.”
“We are pleased to work with Champlain Oil,” said Travis Bouck, vice president marketing, North America, Gilbarco. “They have taken a pro-active approach to EMV implementation by using our secure payment terminals and media solution to enhance their consumers’ experience and offset a significant portion of the upgrade costs.”
