Whoopie pies and macaroni and cheese among new options.
In a nod to the unique fare of Central Pennsylvania, Rutter’s Farm Stores added two hometown favorites, whoopie pies and fried sweet bologna, and one classic American dish, macaroni and cheese, to their diverse and award-winning menu this week.
An all-American favorite, macaroni and cheese adds yet another fast, delicious dinnertime addition or anytime snack for Rutter’s busy customers. Each serving is seven-ounces of traditional shells and creamy cheddar cheese. To make each meal even heartier, customers can add beef short ribs, taco meat, chili, philly steak or bacon.
“Mac and cheese is classic American comfort food. We’re happy to be able to provide it in a fast and fresh way for our on-the-go customers,” says Jerry Weiner, Rutter’s vice president of food service.
Rutter’s has also introduced new sweet treats to their ever-expanding menu. A Central Pennsylvania tradition, whoopie pies have been a product of Pennsylvania Dutch kitchens for generations. Rutter’s uses a time-tested local recipe to create the authentic flavor locals have come to love. Two sweet chocolate cakes sandwich velvety white filling to create Rutter’s newest dessert.
For a snack with a little more substance, customers can try the all new fried sweet bologna bites. Sweet and savory chunks of Pennsylvania’s own Lebanon sweet bologna are fried to order and served with any of the dipping sauces available on Rutter’s menu. Each serving is five ounces, which makes for a hearty snack.
Rutter’s Farm Stores was named 2014’s International Convenience Retailer of the Year by NACS and Insight Research and also took first place in five categories in the 2014 York Daily Record/ Sunday News’ Best of York reader’s poll, Best Milk, Best Coffee, Best Quick Service Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
