Six firms vie to create headquarters design.
Kum & Go is considering six international design firms for its proposed 120,000-square-foot headquarters along Grand Avenue in downtown Des Moines in what is expected to be a $92 million project, the Business Record Online reported.
The c-store chain aims to make a final decision by mid-November and plans to have a local architect and general contractor selected by the end of the year, Kum & Go spokesperson Traci Rodemeyer told the paper.
Kum & Go is moving from its current headquarters in West Des Moines due to a need for more space.
The six firms are as follows:
- Bohlin Cywinski Jackson
- Renzo Piano Building Workshop (RPBW)
- Safdie Architects
- Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP (SOM)
- Morphosis
- Bjarke Ingles Group (BIG)
Kum & Go operates more than 430 convenience stores in 11 states (Iowa, Arkansas, Colorado, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota and Wyoming).
