Following $100 million in upgrades, Pilot introduces promotion to showcase new amenities.
Pilot Flying J has launched a new brand identity, along with food and facility upgrades, at more than 650 travel centers across North America. To bring awareness to this milestone, the company is introducing a “Travel Well” promotion to showcase new amenities and initiatives.
Recent Changes
Pilot Flying J recently invested $100 million in ongoing renovations at more than 650 Pilot Flying J travel centers and travel plazas across America. The rebranding initiatives include upgrades to existing facilities inside and out, and an overall improved customer experience. Upgrades include updated restrooms, showers, exteriors, and larger parking areas, to name a few.
For an enhanced customer experience, Pilot Flying J has expanded its PJ Fresh Marketplaces to more locations. The program features fresh, healthy and high-quality meal options— including handmade pizza. The program first debuted in select stores in 2013.
The company also introduced the MyPilot app, which allows users to plan trips by displaying each Pilot Flying J travel stop between point A and B on a route. This helps users determine pre-set stops for road trips and easily set a budget for fuel.
Travel Well
Travel Well is a holiday journey leading up to Thanksgiving, featuring travel journals about the various Pilot rebranding initiatives. The relay style road trip is designed to highlight Pilot Flying J’s improved customer experience through the eyes of different customer groups who will blog their experiences on the road.
The campaign is set to kick off on Nov. 1 and will run through Thanksgiving—the busiest travel time of the year.
Travel Well will feature travel journals or blogs from Pete Thomas from NBC’s The Biggest Loser, NASCAR driver Michael Annett, a mommy blogger and a travel blogger. Each personality will focus on different aspects of the rebranding initiatives.
Pete Thomas will focus on health initiatives. He will highlight the new food options at the Pilot Flying J Travel Centers and PJ Fresh Markets and how to eat healthily while traveling.
Michael Annett will be targeting America’s road warriors. His NASCAR team will show how easy it is to get in, fuel up and get out of Pilot Flying J stations. These “pit stops” will highlight convenience and his team will highlight food and beverage variety.
Mommy blogger, Mommy Katie, will feature family-friendly road trip stops and fresh food choices guaranteed to satisfy every family member.
Travel blogger, Just Short of Crazy, will cover trip planning and facility renovations to show why Pilot Flying J is one of the best places to stop on a road trip.
The Travel Well journey will be documented through social media channels, a travel journal on the Pilot Flying J Website and the travelers’ personal blogs. Customers are invited to follow along and share their favorite things about traveling with Pilot Flying J.
