Family-friendly fun run to benefit Big Brothers, Big Sisters and local children’s charities.
Corner Store, a Fortune 500 convenience chain based in San Antonio, is introducing its inaugural signature charity event, a 5K fun run series called the Corner Store Country Run that will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters and local children’s charities.
The eight-city series will begin in Montreal, Canada on Sept. 13 and end in San Antonio on Nov. 15. The course will be country-themed with hay bales, corn stalks and giant inflatable cows and pigs. Participants are encouraged to dress the part with over-the-top country attire, and to stick around after the run for a free country fair that features eats and drinks, live music, a beer garden, carnival games and giveaways from sponsors.
Sponsors include Oak Farms, Michelob Ultra and Coca-Cola. For a full list of sponsors, visit CornerStoreRun.com.
“At Corner Store, we believe in giving back to the communities we serve,” said Kim Bowers, CEO of CST Brands, the parent company of Corner Store. “With the Country Run, not only are we thrilled to be raising money for a great cause, we are looking forward to hosting fun-filled events that are open to the whole community and will get folks up and moving while having a great time.”
All net proceeds benefit charitable causes, including Big Brothers Big Sisters, the world’s largest donor and volunteer-supported mentoring network making meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”), ages 6 through 18, in communities across the globe. Additional funds will be donated to local children’s charities in each city.
“Big Brothers Big Sisters is pleased to be chosen as one of the charity partners for the upcoming Corner Store Country Run events,” said Pam Iorio, president and CEO, Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. “Thanks to the support of companies like Corner Store, our national office is able to assist our affiliates across the country as they work to provide mentors for nearly 200,000 of our nation’s youth.”
The cost to register online at CornerStoreRun.com is $30, or $75 for a family four-pack. Children under eight are free. Runners can save $5 by registering in-store at any participating Corner Store location.
