Customers can use the MY MAPCO app to pay for gas via PayPal.
MAPCO Express, a convenience store chain and petroleum operator in the southwest U.S., has officially rolled out mobile payment for gas via a smartphone app as a payment option at 276 MAPCO locations, Mobile Payments Today reported.
MAPCO teamed with PayPal, in order to allow customers to pay within the MY MAPCO app, which is free to download for iOS and Android devices.
What’s more, MY MAPCO app users get five cents back on every gallon.
MAPCO started to consider mobile payments some 18 months ago, and released a beta test of the app with payment options in May. Now that the app is available to the public, time will tell how customers respond to the new technology, but word of the app is already spreading among the Millennial generation via social media.
