Englefield Oil Co.’s Duchess Shoppes, a full-service convenience store chain, is inviting customers to honor Everyday Heroes with a donation to the American Red Cross this March.
Beginning Saturday, March 1, customers will be able to purchase a Red Cross icon for $1 at any of the chain’s 123 stores in Ohio to mark March is Red Cross Month. PepsiCo has also jumped on board and Duchess Shoppe will be matching them in a donation of a portion of the proceeds from the sale of Lipton Pure Leaf Iced Tea in all stores during the month of March. Both the customer donation icons and the Lipton Tea sales during the month will fund critical community services of the Red Cross.
“We’re thrilled that Duchess Shoppes are partnering with us for March is Red Cross Month,” said Matt Bertram, CEO, American Red Cross Central-Southeast Ohio Region. “The best way we can honor our volunteers—who truly are Everyday Heroes—is to expand their resources to carry out our Mission. And inviting their customers to consider a contribution is a wonderful way to get people involved.”
Donations made at Duchess Shoppes during the month of March will fund critical programs of the American Red Cross, including disaster relief, emergency messaging facilitated by Service to the Armed Forces and Community Preparedness Education, among others. The mission of the Red Cross is carried out by a workforce that is made up of 94% volunteers, fueled by the generosity of donors.
“Our company has always been a big supporter of the Red Cross,” said Ben Englefield, co-President, Englefield Oil Company | Duchess Shoppe. “We are excited to be celebrating Red Cross Month in all of our stores. We have the ability to reach many people through our wonderful customer base and we hope they will join our mission in honoring the Red Cross’ Everyday Heroes!”
For more than 70 years, all of our country’s presidents, including President Barack Obama, have designated March as Red Cross Month to recognize how the American Red Cross helps people across the country and around the world.
