Donates $65,000 to the organization, marking its fourth year of fundraising for the cause.
On Friday, Dec. 13, petroleum jobber Giant Oil Inc. hosted a holiday and check presentation party on behalf of the Pediatric Cancer Foundation where gold medalist and cancer survivor Steven Cash served as the featured speaker.
At the dinner event, Giant Oil presented the Pediatric Cancer Foundation with a check for $65,000 from their fall fundraising campaign where employees encouraged customers to make a donation at the register. 2013 marks the fourth year that Giant Oil has sponsored a fundraiser on behalf of the Pediatric Cancer Foundation. Over the last several years, Giant Oil has raised over $220,000 for the Pediatric Cancer Foundation, which focuses on finding less toxic treatments for children’s cancer.
Giant Oil Inc. was founded in 1995 by CEO and President Basem Ali, with its corporate headquarters located in Tampa, Fla. Giant presently operates over 160 convenience stores located throughout the states of Florida and Ohio, serving the community with its fuel and retail outlets.
Decorated Paralympian Steven Cash once battled the same type of cancer that is currently under trial as part of the Pediatric Cancer Foundation’s Sunshine Project. Cash was diagnosed with osteosarcoma (bone cancer) at age three which led to his double leg amputation and eventually a career in sled hockey.
