Knoxville News Sentinel Reader’s Choice Poll recognizes Pilot Flying J.
Pilot Flying J has been voted the ‘Best Place to Work’ in the category of companies with more than 50 employees by the readers of the Knoxville News Sentinel, the daily newspaper in Knoxville, Tenn., where Pilot Flying J is headquartered.
The designation was announced as part of the results of the News Sentinel’s 2013 Readers’ Choice survey.
“Passionate, hard-working team members are the foundation of any successful organization,” Pilot Flying J CEO Jimmy Haslam said. “We work hard to hire outstanding people, provide them with the training they need to best serve our customers and reward them for a job well done. Without the great team we have at Pilot Flying J, we would not be able to provide the superior level of fast, friendly service that our customers expect and deserve.”
Pilot Flying J, together with its subsidiary Pilot Logistics Services, employs more than 24,000 people nationwide. More than 900 team members work at the company’s headquarters in Knoxville, Tenn.
“We’re honored that our team members voted us as the best place to work in Knoxville,” Haslam said. “It’s a reflection of their commitment to our company’s values and dedication to making life better for professional drivers.”
Last month, on Nov. 20, Pilot Flying J celebrated its 55th anniversary. James Haslam II, founder of the company, thanked the thousands of team members who have contributed to Pilot Flying J’s success and many of whom have been employed by the company for decades. Bobbie Clemons has worked for Pilot for 26 years and is currently the assistant manager at the Cumberland Avenue Pilot in Knoxville.
“This company is the best place to work,” Clemons said. “We have great coworkers and great customers, and there is a family focus storewide. We also love it when Haslam pops in to visit the store. He is a great man and even better person to work for.”
Pilot Flying J has more than 650 retail locations.
