Love’s to open a “state-of-the-art” travel stop in Davenport, making it the third Love’s store in Iowa, says Greg Love.
Loves is building a new convenience store and fast food restaurant in the Eastern Iowa Industrial Center in northwest Davenport.
Love’s Travel Stops will build the new facility in the industrial park on Northwest Boulevard, just north of Interstate 80.
Bill Gleason, real estate project manager for the Oklahoma City-based c-store chain, said the Davenport facility will include a gas station, a convenience store, accessories for truckers and an Arby’s restaurant. Gleason said construction for the project begins in June, and officials plan to open the truck stop before Thanksgiving.
“This has really been a team effort on behalf of the city, and we are happy about it,” he said.
Love’s has prepared for this new site for more than two years with the Greater Davenport Redevelopment Corp., negotiating the sale of the location.
“We’re proud to support the local economies in the communities where we operate, and we look forward to serving our new customers in the area with the ‘clean places, friendly faces’ Love’s is known for,” said Greg Love, president of Love’s Development Cos.
Love’s new truck stop plans to be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The company wants to hire 40 people, and offer 80 parking spaces for customers. There will also be a Love’s Truck Tire Care center.
Davenport Alderman At-Large Gene Meeker said there will be more announcements about the development of the new truck stop in the summer.
