After a 24 year hiatus, 7-Eleven returns to the Charlotte, N.C. market.
7-Eleven Inc. is buying 55 Sam’s Mart stores in North and South Carolina, marking its return to the Charlotte, N.C. market after 24 years, the Dallas Business Journal reported.
Dallas-based 7-Eleven previously sold its 33 stores in the Charlotte market in 1988.
Although the company previously operated in the area, this is 7-Eleven’s first major entry into a new area under the company’s accelerated growth plan, spokesperson Margaret Chabris told the Dallas Business Journal.
7-Eleven opened 650 stores in 2011—double the amount it opened in 2010.
The transaction is expected to close in February and 7-Eleven did not reveal terms of the deal.
