Walgreens to Give Away One Million Redbox Movies

The first 130 Walgreens customers at stores on Thanksgiving nationwide will receive a Redbox promotional code for a free one-day DVD rental.

Walgreens is offering one million reasons to be thankful this Thanksgiving by rewarding the first 130 customers to make a purchase at more than 7,700 locations nationwide on Thanksgiving Day with a free one-day Redbox® DVD rental. The free one-day DVD rental will be valid at all Walgreens Redbox locations from Thanksgiving Day through Dec. 24, 2011.

“We’re pleased to build upon our existing relationship with Redbox to offer this reward to our early bird shoppers this Thanksgiving,” said Bob Cinq-Mars, Walgreens divisional merchandise manager for front-end services. “The holidays are a great time to gather the family for a movie. This will be a good chance for some to try out the service for the first time and a nice bonus for many others who have long enjoyed the convenience and value of Redbox rentals at their neighborhood Walgreens.”

Customers looking to celebrate the holidays with a movie can visit Redbox at their local Walgreens and find the top new releases including “Super 8,” “Bridesmaids,” “Cars 2” and more as well as a selection of movies themed for the holidays: “Christmas with the Kranks,” “Tyler Perry’s A Madea Christmas (The Play)” or “The Littlest Angel.”

Walgreens is the nation’s largest drugstore chain and operates 7,786 drugstores in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.

That’s very nice of Walgreens but I prefer my existing service. I have the Blockbuster Movie Pass through my employee subscription to DISH and love that I can get streaming videos, their disc by mail service with in-store exchanges, and 20 movie channels all for ten bucks a month. I think it’s a great deal and beats Redbox any day.
