“Wawa’s donation will help alleviate a lot of suffering,” says American Red Cross spokesperson.
Wawa Inc. is making a $50,000 donation to the American Red Cross International Relief Fund to help support Japan following the earthquake and tsunami disasters.
“Our hearts go out to those in Japan during this difficult time. Wawa has always had a strong commitment to providing crisis response and assisting those in need, and we’ve been partnering with the American Red Cross in these kinds of efforts for decades,” said Chris Gheysens, Wawa’s chief financial officer. “We have a long history of supporting the Red Cross that includes providing aid for Hurricanes Andrew, Katrina and Rita, the Midwestern Floods, the Asian Tsunamis and Sept.11 and the Haiti Earthquake disaster.”
“Wawa stepped up big to help Haiti and is doing the same to help Japan,” American Red Cross Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter Board Chairman Michael Coslov said. “Wawa is a great corporate citizen and partner of the Red Cross. Wawa’s donation will help alleviate a lot of suffering.”
The donation made to the Red Cross International Response Fund has been designated specifically for the current crisis in Japan. These funds will be used to help the Red Cross provide immediate and vital support to the victims.
Wawa operates more than 560 stores in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland and Virginia and has been a committed partner to Red Cross relief efforts home and abroad for many years.
