Kum & Go L.C. has donated $8,000 to the Foundation for Springfield Public Schools (FSPS)-collected through the c-store chain’s Fuel Your School Program.
Kum & Go contributed three cents from every gallon of gas sold on April 8 at 41 Springfield area locations to the organization, which supports the Springfield Public Schools.
The check was presented at the FSPS Teacher Appreciation Banquet on April 19.
“We are very pleased to make this contribution to the FSPS in appreciation of the district’s teachers,” said Kyle Krause, Kum & Go president and CEO. “As a company we strongly believe in giving back to the communities we serve. We are happy to assist the FSPS in all they do to help the students of this district.”
“We are very appreciative of Kum & Go’s contribution and their efforts through the Fuel Your School program,” said Nancy Fazzino with the FSPS. “The community really came out and helped us get this contribution during a time when we are in need of funds.”
The Foundation for Springfield Public Schools supports nearly 24,000 students in a variety of ways. The Foundation has an annual grant program which awarded over $150,000 in 2009 for a classroom projects and equipment. In addition the Foundation has a voucher program that provided over 300 winter coats and hundreds of clothing and hygiene items this school year alone. This May the Foundation for Springfield Public Schools will award over 70 scholarships to graduating seniors in need of financial assistance to continue their educations.
