Gas prices in Tennessee have dropped nearly 10 cents a gallon since the beginning of 2010, the Memphis Business Journal reported.
The fall mirrors the average price per gallon in the U.S., which also has declined, according to reports from AAA Auto Club South. The average price per gallon in Tennessee for regular unleaded is $2.533, down from $2.625 last month. Nationally, the average price per gallon was $2.652, down from $2.737 a month ago, but up from $1.921 a year ago.
A year ago, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded was $1.815 in Tennessee. A Gas Express station at 3230 Austin Peay Highway in North Memphis currently is selling a gallon of regular unleaded for $2.39 per gallon, the lowest price recorded by Gas Buddy.com.
AAA Auto Club South surveys more than 100,000 self-service gas stations every day in compiling data on average fuel prices.
