Kwik Trip, headquartered in La Crosse, Wis., is teaming up with the Salvation Army to make sure local people need stay warm this winter, WKBT.com, a La Crosse, Wis. news source, reported.
From now until Nov. 8, Kwik Trip stores are collecting gently used coats, boots, hats and gloves for kids and adults as part of this years Coats for Kids Etcetera program. Once donations are collected, the items will be sent to One Hour Cleaners where they will be cleaned before being sent to the Salvation Army to be handed out to people in need.
Last year, the program helped more than 650 people in the La Crosse area.
“Sometimes we take for granted how easy it is to reach into our closet and grab a warm coat to throw on and off we go, there really are people out there who don’t have much to keep them warm and so it’s such a simple matter to hand down a coat, a pair of boots, and gloves and those types of things,” said Salvation Army Major Curtiss Hartley.
The Salvation Army will distribute the items Nov. 10-12 and 17-19 at the Salvation Army on 223 North 8th street in La Crosse.
