An Ohio man who says he never wins anything has won free gas for a year thanks to a loyalty card promotion at a Sheetz in Akron, Ohio.
John Karaiskos, of Massillon, learned of his prize about three weeks ago after his My Sheetz Card was scanned at the in-store kiosk at a store in Akron, the Akron Beacon-Journal reported.
As with the previous two winners, Karaiskos was selected at random among all Sheetz card holders.
”I was totally floored,” Karaiskos told the newspaper. He is a sales representative who regularly stops at Sheetz for gas and for coffee. ”I know people say they never win anything, but I’m one of those people who really doesn’t win things like this. I did a double take. My first thought was, ‘This can’t be right.’ But it was.”
Karaiskos told the Beacon-Journal he quickly printed out the screen notifying him of his winnings. Just to be sure, he said.
”I feel very lucky . . . and it’s a great prize,” he said.
He’ll get up to $2,000 worth of free gas (about 20 gallons a week) for the next year, said Louie Sheetz, executive vice president of marketing at Sheetz Inc., told the newspaper.
Karaiskos got a Sheetz gift card with his free gasoline recorded on the card. He is the third big winner in the Sheetz contest, which continues through Feb. 13.
