Despite the challenging economy, lost jobs and holiday malaise, the spirit of Christmas reigned supreme at Green Oil Co.
Buoyed by an incredible effort from the caring employees and customers of two Super Stores, a bit of vendor and dealer support and a wonderful performance by its office staff, the Green Oil team announced it has raised $20,000 for charity that will be divided among Atlanta’s Empty Stocking Fund, The Welcome House for Women and In His Great Name Ministry.
The funds were raised in just under 30 basically one dollar at a time, said Jim Callahan, marketing director for the six-store chain in Fairburn, Ga.
The success of the charity drive translated to 1,000 greater Atlanta area, underprivileged children waking up to stockings filled with toys, educational material and an article of clothing on Christmas morning.
Green Oil, which is also a BP, Chevron and Shell distributor in the Atlanta market, has a long history of charitable giving, including its support of victims of Hurricane Katrina, children’s organizations and its annual Christmas charity drive.
